Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, fiends, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of this adventure are included.
The Warrior Group Revealed
The third episode concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the first table of heroes who will split off from the primary party to undertake their independent quest, apart from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by Travis), the nimble rogue (Laura), the fierce warrior (Whitney), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With a large ensemble, it was evident from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be impossible.
This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Soldiers Table
As described by the Dungeon Master, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged battle-oriented gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are best suited for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
First, the group understands precisely where to proceed after a intense initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the campaign’s events—exploited the foes for his selfish purposes, breaking into the secret base, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the magical artifacts to auction.
The traitor then settled his obligations and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Character Drivers
Additionally, each member has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the companion and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a hostile environment.
- The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- But, their reputation as important members in House Halovar could enable the party reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Lastly, all of them are wanted by the authorities that control the city for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander defied the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
Based on the recent installment’s post-show segment, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the rest of the participants to round up the Seekers and Strategists tables.
Fans can look forward to finding out which characters will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, available to watch on October 24.
