A person who laced candy with tranquilliser and provided them to children at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual offenses against two young males who were nine and ten years old.

The defendant was arrested after eight children and an older person experienced illness at the location in mid-summer.

The elderly man, from the Nottinghamshire area, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he stood at the judicial center on the end of the week.

Nevertheless, he denied one of the sexual offences he was charged with, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.

Ruben was kept in jail before a further hearing on November 28th.

'Sweet game'

Mary Prior KC, handling the case, outlined Ruben's offending to the judicial body.

She said his victims were disadvantaged youngsters who were attending a summer program which he operated.

The man conducted a "treat game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and ask them to eat sweets "rapidly".

She told the court the man had conducted this practice with the children "for many years", and minors had previously become sick the next day.

She explained the defendant had been successful in rationalizing this for many years as the youngsters being "overexcited from fun", until his stepson had worries in recently.

The legal representative stated further: "Recently" his stepson had worries about the situation, for good reason.

"They resolved" to have a look in the man's possessions."

Mrs Prior KC explained items including lubricant, petroleum jelly and injection devices were found, and his stepson alerted the law enforcement about his worries.

She stated the defendant continued to conduct the "treat game" with six boys that evening - that Saturday - and they were everyone unwell the subsequent day.

"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that time," she stated further.

The oversight body, the police conduct office, had stated that it was reviewing the police response of the situation.

The legal representative stated the children were struggling to walk due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the law enforcement a second time.

She explained the defendant then played the "treat game" in a room of five minors.
